Lauren and I went out to dinner tonight. No trucks broke down. No dirt was involved. For a few glorious hours we got to pretend we were normal 20-something females instead of crazy girls who love farm life. It was fantastic! But let’s be honest. We both love being farm girls and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
We went to Restaurant Alba in Malvern which is a farm-to-table restaurant that actually serves Wyebrook beef. We’ve become friends with one of the chefs – Jay – through the farmers’ market and dropping off meat at the restaurant. Everything was delicious. We started with some crazy fried crab dish followed by a beef tartare bruschette. I’m always telling people you can eat our meat raw because it is healthy and now I can say I actually have!
After that we had a tomato and goat cheese bruschette and a mozzarella bruschette. At this point we realized that just about everything we ordered was some form of bread and cheese…oops! It was all delicious so we weren’t concerned. For dinner with split their award-winning rabbit agnolotti. Raw beef. Rabbit. Truly there is nothing I won’t try at least once. Like everything else, it was excellent.
We planned to forgo dessert since we were both feeling pretty full of bread and cheese, but then Jay talked us into splitting a butterscotch pudding with salted caramel sauce. So much for my sugar-free streak. It was well worth it.
If you are in the area and looking for a new restaurant to try, this is definitely a good option!
