Meat Recall

This is why you should shop locally and known your farmer: “Some 8.7 million pounds of meat from a Northern California company have been recalled because they came from ‘diseased and unsound’ animals that weren’t properly inspected, a federal agency announced Saturday.

Yum.

I’m saying these ranchers knowingly and intentionally processed sick animals nor am I saying that every small, local farm is above reproach. There are good people in big business and plenty of small-time guys just looking to make a buck wherever they can. But if you know your farmer and visit the farm where your food is grown and raised, you’re in a much better spot than the folks who buy their food from a nameless, faceless corporation located on the other side of the world.
