No, I don’t have a niece or nephew yet. This news isn’t that exciting. But it is still pretty spectacular. As of next Monday I am the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture’s newest employee!
The Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture, better known as PASA, is the “largest statewide, member-based sustainable farming organization in the United States.” They are the force behind the annual Farming for the Future Conference. They also partner with Fair Food to put on the Philly Farm & Food Fest every year. Which was last weekend! Other PASA programs and partnerships include the Buy Fresh, Buy Local campaign, the Good Food Neighborhood community outreach program, the Food Alliance certification program, and FoodRoutes Network.
This is a pretty amazing opportunity for me to work for and with one of the main players in the sustainable ag movement. I’ll be working in their eastern region office which is conveniently located in Downingtown, not 15 minutes from Wyebrook! My official title is Eastern Region Services Manager. I’ll be planning events, applying for grants, and generally making sure members in the eastern region are being well served. There will be writing involved. And possibly public speaking. And farms! All of my favorite things.
For now the position is part time which is great because it means I get to continue my hands-on vegetable production education at Coverdale!
